Graham Rawle

We had a workshop on Monday with artist and writer, Graham Rawle, in which we were given two words which we then had to make up a visual story with. I was given 'ambitious table'and with the limit of 100 words or less, I came up with the following response.
We also had a very interesting lecture from Graham in the morning, he had a lot of great stuff to talk about and he has really inspired me to take an interest in collecting something, not sure what that will be yet but I think I should have a project of some kind.

The Swimmer

Today I had a contextual presentation (about the reinvention of classic book covers) which I enjoyed a surprising amount! Topics are so much easier to talk about when you're actually interested in them. Anyway I can now fully concentrate on my project! I've come up with a few initial ideas, been focusing on themes within the story such as maps, alcohol and obviously swimming, which will hopefully help me progress through to some final outcomes later in the project.

Workshop focusing on personality and character. We had to create a life sized drawing of a character from our chosen story. I chose Shirley Adams, someone who i imagine to be young, seductive and at this particular time, confused and mildly angry!

Year 2

Just finished my first week of year 2 and received our first brief at the start of the week. We have been given a list of stories to choose from, which we then have to design a front and back cover for, with 4 illustrations included inside. Yesterday we had our first day workshop which was a great start to the year, interesting and fun. We were given an object, a location and a character from one of the stories, from which we then had to create a series of 6 images, all related to one another. This could either be connected to the story in which the object, location and character came from or be totally completely unrelated! I was given a slice of cake, a kitchen and a policemen, from which i came up with the following story!
