Marker Pen.

I've handed all my work in for assessment so now we've been given another project which is basically going into the cold and drawing buildings. Annoying that it's cold but i like it. We did something similar at college on foundation so i'm using the same good old chisel tip marker pen to create some illustrations that i might turn into lino prints! Here are a few i did today, i'm hopefully going to fill a book!

The Gift

Our third uni brief is called 'Text & Fiction' and we basically got given a text which we could then illustrate however we interpreted! These aren't final but I think they're pretty much nearly there! The text is called The Gift.

The other day I enjoyed some Brie and Bacon Crepes with a pot of tea from the Bicycle Shop cafe in Norwich. It was insanely nice. We played scrabble too :)

The Other Day

The other day i went to Norwich to visit my new house :) It was a splendid day and i cannot wait to get over there and explore the city! We went to La Tasca for lunch and I attempted to navigate my parents around the place for the brief time we were there, succeeding slightly, very slightly. This is me and what i wore that day :)

Welly Girl

Starting to get the hang of this, done another drawing, i call her Welly Girl and I imagine her to have hundreds of wellies that she wears every single day :) Today she is wearing her classic wellington green with red polka dots!

I just added some layers to the drawing to make it look slightly different! :)

James Franco.

Starting to draw James Franco, the fantastic 127 Hours star and Pineapple Express star :) Taking pictures as i go along, doing a bit every few days rather than all in one go because I'm finding it better to take a new look at it everyday and see how i can improve it. I was so frustrated i nearly ripped it up the other day. Glad i didn't haha!

Finished college and finished the swan, here it is in all it's glory!

Monday, 9 May 2011

I had a rocky start with the big swan! All the triangles were ripping and AHHHHH. The base too large so it was majorly floppy, i thought i was going to have to think of a new final piece because it was failing so badly! But after trial and error i managed to make a smaller base that i then put my larger triangles onto and started to build up the swan once more, this time it worked :) As you can see from the photos, the middle is a bit messy but it's coming together nicely.

My hands are hurting a lot from folding, therefore i am resting for a bit. I've been in the garden lately, as the weather has been rather swell and the other week, Dad was cutting this strange palm tree down in the front garden (the winter was so cold it killed the tree) and i was tidying all the dead leaves up and found a peculiar leaf which i you just have to see! So I then put it aside because it was JUST so awesome. THENNN blow me down i found another!

Also i took a picture of the largest weeping beech in Derby (which just so happens to be in my back garden) just before the spring and i have just taken on the other day. Look at how beautiful it is now i has some leaves :)

Also check out my feather. It's feathery.
I'm making a kind of decorative hanging with some illustrations, this being one of them, i'll upload soon :)

8 a day? 8 A DAY! How can a calculation be SO wrong!
Oh my word. I think it must have been 80 and i read it wrong because DAMNNN is this taking a long time. My hands a slightly crippled but alas, i shall solider on!

Below is a picture of the base, a bag of triangles which gets bigger everyday/ i'm on a new bag and me in the garden at my sunny workstation.

Can't believe I have forgotten to post about this but i followed a tutorial on youtube, this one infact on how to make a 3D origami swan. I wasn't really getting anywhere with my project with 2D illustration so thought i'd try 3D.

I made the small scale swan and am now on a mission, creating a HUGEEE one, using A4 paper for each individual triangle. I did the maths (probably wrong, maths isn't my forte) but I aim to make around 2020 triangles, which would give me enough for the body, both wings and the neck. It sounds like a lot but i have about four weeks and if i do about 8 a day i should be okay :)

I've currently done 270 and will probably have done 300 later on.

Monday, 11 April 2011

I've just got a new scanner which now let's me scan in big things rather than take rubbish photos of them. It also means that i have to spend a long while match up different pieces of the image because it's actually and A3 image. Not mastered it yet but it's not too bad for a first attempt!

So I'm doing my FMP. I always forget to update my blog these days. SIlly me. Anyway, I've drawn this swan because I've been reading Roald Dahl's 'The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar & six more' which has a story called 'The Swan' within it, which i am going to try and illustrate and create advertisements for bookshops for :)

Saturday, 19 March 2011

Here's my final major project sketchbook. It was boring and plain so i decided to use white ink and spice it up a bit, with my new favourite pattern. Reminds me of the sea :) Hope you like.

Watercolour painting i did last night of Javier Bardem. Might be a starting point for my next project, something film related, but who knows.

check out my tumblr site. It's just some of my favourite things I find on the internet, kind of a diary of my findings if you like
