In Februaryish 2009, i went to a little art gallery in Nottingham, i can't remember the name, it may even have been 'The Little Art Gallery'. Maybe not. Anyway it was near Nottingham Castle, very near. My freind's mum told me there was going to be an exhibition on the micro sculptor Willard Wigan, as she knows i am interested in art. So i popped along to see what it was all about. Basically i was amazed. It just so happened that Willard was in the gallery that very day and taking questions from people (me) about how he creates his works etc. He uses particles of dust to build microscopic sculptrues which fit within the eye of a needle. From a young age Wigan has been training himself to steady his breathing so that his heart rate slow downs in order for him to create his work!
Here is a link to his website if you want more information on him and his work :)
It was really very very fascinating, i was so lucky to have met him!
Yes, that is Willard and myself in Nottingham
